Intent:

At The Featherstone Academy, we aim to create the very best musicians, performers and composers.  We endeavour to inspire passion and excellence in music through personalized instruction, fostering a lifelong love of music in students of all ages and skill levels. We challenge students to think, act and speak like Musicians. We do this by teaching students the four pillars of music, melody, harmony, rhythm and form through inspiring and exciting projects that take the students around the world and beyond.

Music at The Featherstone Academy is creative, collaborative and challenging. We explore singing, ensemble playing, experimenting with the creative process and, through the love of listening to friends and fellow pupils,

We give students the means to engage in conversation, share opinions and demonstrate high levels of skill and prepare them for higher study later in life.

Styles and genres past and present are explored and investigated to introduce students to techniques they can listen to, perform and compose until they become well-rounded musicians that can draw on their musical experiences as they travel through life after Key Stage 3.
