The Next Step – Higher Education & Apprenticeships

The Featherstone Academy is part of the National Collaborative Outreach Project through Go Higher West Yorkshire.

Our dedicated member of staff in the school is Sarah Cooper.  She will work closely with students who may experience barriers to continuing their education or who simply need more information about the choices on offer to them.  Sarah will organise trips outside school, visiting speakers and workshops for students which will help students to make informed choices about their future.

Upcoming College Events

Wakefield College – Open Days Events: click here for full details

An update from Wakefield College regarding application interviews for Year 11 students now that staff are working remotely.

“Telephone interviews will still be going ahead as planned for all curriculum areas which will give Year 11 students the chance to talk to our tutors to confirm Wakefield College is somewhere they would like to attend.

Attending an interview evening would normally give students the chance to have a look at the campus and see where they will be studying but unfortunately with this not able to happen, please see the link below to our Interactive Prospectus which includes a Virtual Campus tour. This enables students to see classrooms and all the different facilities that we have at Wakefield College.

For any students who may feel nervous about their interview, please reassure them that as much as it is chance for our tutors to get to know any new students and why they are interested in doing the course, this is also a chance for any Year 11 students to find out about Wakefield College and what we have to offer. Please use the interview as an opportunity to ask any questions about the courses you have chosen to make sure this is the correct pathway for you and any other general questions you might have about College.”
